Animals are essential for making Earth habitable and their impact is inextricably linked to our climate, water and food security. This is the untold story of why wildlife conservation and protection of endangered species is critical for human survival. Animal Impact is about telling that story, about creating a new way to see animals, a conversation that is needed before we can start to truly value nature.

Your purchase means we can reach and influence as many people as possible with this story, while making a difference to wildlife and conservation.

As a subscriber, we will update you with details of how your money was spent and the progress we have made.

How your thirty five dollars is spent

• Approx. 45% on production, printing, postage and merchant fees.
• Approx. 40% on reaching people and promoting the story online*.
• Approx 25% on buying carbon-biodiversity.

*100% of your purchase will be reinvested so we can build more habitat and tell the important story of Animal Impact, to more people. The 40% enables us to reach about 2,000 people and on average, we expect this to translate into between 1-3 purchases. If we can use your purchase to get a second person involved, we can grow our impact. The more of us contribute, the more sustainable forest and wildlife habitat we can build.

These sales will not be used to make a profit (we haven't included a profit in the calculations). So, 100% of all money will be invested in these three outcomes:

Do offsets really work? Yes, but only if they're done like this

Offsets can only work if they create a permanent and sustained benefit and for that, they have to be invested in carbon-biodiversity programs. Tree planting alone, does not solve climate change as animals are necessary for the long-term functioning and stability of ecosystems. It is loss of wildlife populations and habitat connectivity that leads to structural decline in the planet’s ability to stabilise climate.

Our carbon-biodiversity provider, Greenfleet, has been doing habitat creation for over twenty years, has planted 9.6 million trees, created over 500 native forests and offset 3.5 million tonnes of CO₂. Carbon-biodiversity investments are chosen because they maximise added-value to wildlife and conservation, involving local and indigenous communities working together. Locally-prioritised protection results in far greater sustainability as generations become custodians long into the future.

The cost of creating carbon-offset using these methods is higher, but the benefits are far more significant and long-term.

However, offsets only really work as a last resort and of course, carbon minimisation starts at home, with all the things you can do personally to reduce your impact.
