Sperm whales eat almost a tonne of prey every day. They do this using incredible sensory adaptations combined with an ability to know exactly where squid occur, and contributing to the health of supporting ecosystems. These social and cultural connections to the ocean have developed over many thousands of years and are a large part of the puzzle of how animals like sperm whales can catch 350–700 squid a day.

Framed

All packaging materials used are 100% recyclable and air pillow plastic insert is kept to a minimal level.

Environmentally friendly, heavy-duty cardboard boxes are made with premium 8mm thick twin wall corrugate. They are clearly labelled fragile with handling instructions and are specially designed to withstand the rigours of shipping.

Unframed

The heavy duty cardboard tubes we use are a premium 3mm thickness to minimise chances of crushing.

Prints are rolled into an environmentally friendly recycled brown kraft paper to protect the printed surface from rubbing and scuffing during shipping.

Redelivery

We always verify delivery addresses before orders are shipped. However, if an order needs to be redelivered to a customer due to reasons such as difficult access or no one present to receive or sign, then these are usually sent back to the postal office / courier depot. A notification will be sent to the customer to collect the item within 2-7 working days, otherwise it will be returned to us. If it is not collected, any re-delivery fees to send it back to the customer again once we receive it will need to be charged again, as this is beyond our control.

BIODIVERSITY

For each purchase, we will buy an offset equivalent to one weeks-worth of your personal carbon emissions and invest this in carbon-biodiversity that creates wildlife habitat.

Australian Birds

Offsets can only work if they create a permanent and sustained benefit and for that, they have to be invested in carbon-biodiversity programs. Tree planting alone, does not solve climate change as animals are necessary for the long-term functioning and stability of ecosystems. It is loss of wildlife populations and habitat connectivity that leads to structural decline in the planet’s ability to stabilise climate.

Our carbon-biodiversity provider, Greenfleet, has been doing habitat creation for over twenty years, has planted 9.6 million trees, created over 500 native forests and offset 3.5 million tonnes of CO2. Carbon-biodiversity investments are chosen because they maximise added-value to wildlife and conservation, involving local and indigenous communities working together. Locally-prioritised protection results in far greater sustainability as generations become custodians long into the future.

The cost of creating carbon-offset using these methods is higher, but the benefits are far more significant and long-term.

However, offsets only really work as a last resort and of course, carbon minimisation starts at home, with all the things you can do personally to reduce your impact. However, we would love you to join us and learn more about what can be done and to find out more about the incredible impact animals have on making our planet habitable.

  3. We use Greenfleet for our carbon offset. Their policy is that: trees planted to offset emissions are legally protected for up to 100 years; the forest will grow into a native, biodiverse ecosystem-building habitat for native species; and if the trees are damaged by natural disasters or browsing by animals, they will replace them or replant in another area.
